* I Cannot Prove That You'll Find This Interesting

...but I believe you will: about 120 people, prominent in their fields, answer the question What do you believe, but cannot prove?

Topics vary widely. Physics and psychology crop up quite a bit, but so do issues of cross-cultural art, religion, software, economics, and The Perils Of Modern Living. Tsk. :P You may end up skimming through for interesting bits, but there are definitely interesting bits in there, for all tastes.

* brave new spam

One of my colleagues once made the mistake of posting to usenet with his work email address; as a result, he now gets hundreds of spams each day to it, as opposed to the zero spams I get each day to my work address (having never given it out anywhere).

As you might expect, most of it is for pr0n and v1a6ra, and (courtesy of America's fucked-up healthcare system) a variety of other prescription drugs.

Including soma.

Did I miss something? Was a real pharma company so mindnumbingly lacking in irony to name their latest-and-greatest soma? Is this just the latest hipster slang for an existing drug? Or are spammers really trying to sell people the fictional drug from Aldous Huxley's Brave New World for $1.38 a pop?
