* Tom has a blog

Well, he says it's a blog. I say it's a Wiki. :P

* Terrar!

The Glorious Regime's new Terrar™ laws have come into force. One quote stuck out:

"The problem with this is that the encouragement and glorification laws which are coming in today are so broad that anyone supporting violence to remove a regime anywhere in the world now or in the past would theoretically get caught up." Doug Jewell of Liberty, reported by the BBC

If true, then surely the first prosecution should be of Tony Blair, for supporting violence to remove the Iraqi regime? And, indeed, committing that violence in defiance of international law and the UN?

Just wondering.

* Corruption Fatigue

So, I have this theory about the Bush Administration: They operate on a policy of Corruption Fatigue. This — as I define it — which I am, now, so there — is the process whereby they get away with sheer bloody murder, using this three step process:

  • Keep it secret at first.

  • Ensure there's enough plausable deniablity that, when it eventually leaks out, you — and your staunch defenders — have a tentative alibi to cling to. Work those spin-doctors to the max!

  • String the discovery process along for as long as possible, so that by the time the truth of your complicity is proven beyond all reasonable doubt, everyone's already sick to death of the story. The opposition are already in a position of "Well, so? We knew that 2 years ago," because they believed the original leak, and the loyalists aren't going to start shouting about it now...

Presto escapo! If I was being just a fraction more cynical, I'd say that's the time to leak the next news story! After all, it's better to have suspected bad doings in the news than proven ones, and you're going to deny and spin the fuck out of it anyway.

Just an idea.
