* OK, look...

... fuck Godwin's Law.

Blah blah blah, "impeachment is not on the table". Impeachment is just the first step. Step two is a Hague tribunal. I've been saying it for months. It's about time it got into the popular consciousness.

... the interrogation methods approved and defended by this president are not new. Many have been used in the past. The very phrase used by the president to describe torture-that-isn't-somehow-torture — "enhanced interrogation techniques" — is a term originally coined by the Nazis. The techniques are indistinguishable. The methods were clearly understood in 1948 as war-crimes. Verscharfte Vernehmung

I'm not even kidding. There are lots of reasons to impeach Bush and Cheney, many laws broken. But some things go beyond plain law and into the realms of crimes against humanity. And between torture, and the massive casualities in Iraq, the Bush administration has wandered deep into that territory.

It calls for a response, a line needs to be drawn and a stand needs to be taken, by the American People. It's not about retaliation, it's about rehabilitation: If Bush merely slinks out of office in '08 — and, worse still, if his successor is someone who believes in torture and the Iraq war — then I think America is lost in the eyes of the world for at least a generation. America needs to stand up and say, "We made a terrible mistake. We are not like that. We came to the brink, but sanity prevailed, and we stepped back."

Impeachment Is Just The Start.
